Frequently asked questions about natural cotton string
Is cotton twine natural?
People often ask ‘Is cotton natural or synthetic’, and the answer is that it’s 100% natural! Cotton string is sourced from natural cotton fibres that grow on cotton plants of the genus Gossypium. The cotton fibres are spun into yarn to create the soft, flexible, breathable and durable fabric we’re all familiar with, and this yarn is then twisted together to create our strong cotton string.
Is cotton string eco-friendly?
Since our cotton string is 100% natural cotton, it’s completely biodegradable and eco-friendly. You can reuse and recycle your cotton string as much as you want, and when it starts to get worn out after a few years, it will fully biodegrade when you dispose of it.
What is natural cotton string used for?
Natural cotton string can be used for pretty much anything you can think of! It’s commonly used in applications throughout the home and also outdoors, such as wrapping gifts, macrame crafts, tying back plants and flowers, storage, and general tying and fixing.
Is 100% cotton twine safe for cooking?
Cotton string is strong, food-safe and oven-safe, so you can use it as butcher’s twine or baker’s twine if you want to. Rayon is another fantastic food-safe and oven-safe twine – this is the material we use for our range of butcher’s twines.
Is cotton string strong?
Cotton string is a durable, hard-wearing and long-lasting material that’s often used to tie things together securely. It can have a bit of stretch to it, but this will depend on the thickness.
