Description

The 16 mm sisal rope is a strong and durable natural rope suited to larger garden and landscaping projects. It offers good sunlight resistance and minimal stretch which makes it reliable in outdoor settings. This thickness provides a bold rustic finish for garden paths, large borders and feature installations. It remains manageable for installation while giving a strong natural fibre appearance. Because sisal is a natural material it may shrink when wet. To prevent shrinkage, we recommend treating the rope before use in outdoor projects.

Product FAQs

What is this rope made from?

It is made from natural fibres taken from the Agave sisalana plant. These fibres are twisted into a strong three strand rope.

Is this rope suitable for outdoor installation?

Yes. It can be used outdoors once it has been treated with decking oil or a water resistant spray.

What length should I order for this rope?

We stock 10m, 50m, 60m, 100m and 220m lengths in our 10mm sisal rope. We recommend adding at least fifteen percent to your measurements because natural rope can shrink slightly when wet.

Can this rope be cut to size?

Yes. Sisal rope can be cut. Use sharp tools and tape the area before cutting to keep the ends neat.

What can I use 16mm sisal rope for?

You can use 16 mm rope for large borders, garden pathways, landscaping features and outdoor decor.

Will this rope change colour over time?

Natural fibres can darken when exposed to sunlight or moisture. Treatment helps protect the rope and slow this change.

Is this rope strong enough for practical lifting?

This rope is intended for decorative and light load use. Heavy lifting should be done with synthetic rope designed for strength.

How should I maintain this rope?

Apply treatment regularly to help protect the fibres. For indoor use, keeping the rope clean and dry when possible will also help its lifespan. For outdoor use, we recommend applying a decking oil or water repellent treatment to maintain your sisal rope.

Can I buy sisal ropes in other sizes?

Yes. You can explore our full sisal rope range to find matching ropes in different thicknesses.
